What does DBT Skills Coaching provide?

Support

Learning DBT Skills and making life changes can be difficult! We can all benefit from someone cheering us on during challenging times and celebrating our successes. DBT Skills Coaching provides strong support and encouragement for you on your journey.

DBT Skills Integration

You will work with your coach to help you better understand and apply DBT Skills in your life. You will be able to answer questions and find ways to use the skills most effectively. This may mean creating strategies on how to achieve your goals, problem solving for obstacles, and providing advice on next steps as you create your fulfilling life.

Goal Development

Coaching begins by identifying the areas in your life to to focus on based on your main priorities. Goals are then developed and a plan to reach those goals is created.

Accountability

Personal growth can be challenging and we can all use a cheerleader when making moving towards goals! Your coach will provide you with support and encouragement as you face challenges and make changes. Keeping you accountable to your goals is another critical aspect of coaching that can keep you on track and moving forward.

    Let’s meet and chat about what you are looking for with DBT Skills Coaching. During this consultation, we will meet through video conference to answer questions, determine if DBT Skills Coaching is a good fit, and work on scheduling your first coaching session.

    Begin your coaching sessions

    After you have completed your initial consultation and it is determined that DBT Skills Coaching is a good fit, you can get started right away! You will begin by discussing your unique goals. Your sessions will take place over video conference and will involve learning how to effectively integrate DBT Skills into your life in a meaningful way.

About Sherid Carter, Peer DBT Skills Coach

Sherid is professionally trained in DBT Foundational Skills from the Dr. Linehan Institute. She specializes in DBT Skills peer to peer support work. She has two years’ experience in working as DBT skills support worker and has a Bachelor of Arts in Education and Sociology as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Primary School Teaching. 

She discovered DBT Skills while on her own life journey and experienced its life changing potential.  She has since been passionate about supporting and encouraging others to become empowered and begin creating and living their best life, a beautiful life worth living, through applying the DBT skills. As an experienced DBT skills peer to peer support worker she has a special focus in providing students with homework feedback and individual DBT skills support. She believes that homework is the crucial element in DBT skills training that gives students the ability to gain their own personal empowerment and experience a changed life by integrating these skills into their every-day life. Her passion is to see others experiencing a life that is exciting, worth living and full of hope. 

Outside of DBT, Sherid lives in the Cook Islands and loves spending time at the beach. She is also a teacher and a triathlete. When she isn’t working you can find her hiking the topical island’s mountains, open water swimming in the lagoon, running or cycling.
